An Open Letter to Our Dedicated Alcona Music Project (WXTF-FM) Listener Community – As you probably know by now – WXTF FM-LP, 97.9 went silent on October 31, 2021. Since then we have been working diligently on relocating our station operations and restoring Internet Streaming and over-the-air Broadcast services back to Alcona County, the greater Harrisville area, and beyond.
We are happy to announce that effort has been successful. We are relocating our station operations to the former Larry’s Electric Building on Mainstreet in Downtown Harrisville! Once we are able to reestablish our studio operations in the new building, WTF-RADIO will be up and running–streaming online. CLICK on the “LISTEN & CHAT “buttons and get connected to Alcona County and Harrisville’s #1 choice for great music and chat with our friendly, talented DJ volunteers. Our over the air WXTF-LP, 97.9 FM Broadcast Operations will not be available until late Spring when we can re-install our broadcast tower and transmitter. In the meantime, tune into our online WTF streaming service and listen for further updates on when WXTF-97.9 FM will return to the airwaves.
Our online WTF streaming service will include many of your favorite DJ shows, live or pre- recorded. When those shows are not on, you’ll experience WTF’s most interesting, eclectic, unpredictable, and excellent musical mix, along with our local Community/Public Service/Event announcements, and current News & Weather information.
DONATE: And (ahem) we still have bills to pay – PLUS – we are now proud owners of a building that requires a sustainable fundraising effort to help cover our operational expenses that come with independent ownership of our new facility. Tax Deductible donations, big and small, are both needed and greatly appreciated. There are a lot of ways to donate, including buttons on every page of our Website. Which one will YOU choose?
“FRIENDS OF THE ALCONA MUSIC PROJECT”: While we are always on the lookout for more DJ Volunteers, we would also like to open our operations up by creating an all-volunteer, community based group that can take part in the regular “care and feeding” of the WXTF studios. This group could potentially help us manage events, pursue fundraising opportunities (Grants etc.), Social Media, Tech support, cleaning and other various tasks around the studio on an as needed basis. At this point, we are reviewing what these tasks might entail, and would like to hear from our listener community on your ideas/ suggestions on what volunteer services/skills might be available to us. Stay tuned for future details.
During our hiatus, The Alcona Music Project. Inc. has been blessed and overwhelmed by the donations and support of both our local community and listeners near and far. We hope to continue to earn that support, so we can continue to build on that foundation by bringing our Listeners quality community programming and the “best music you won’t hear anywhere else”!
We will keep you updated you on our Facebook Page: @: (Wxtf-Lp 97.9 Harrisville) and our Website as further information and updates become available.
All of us here at WXTF-FM-LP thank you, and we appreciate your past and continued support as we embark on the next chapter for our/your community, non-profit, non-commercial, all volunteer radio station!
ONWARD!!!
Sincerely,
The Alcona Music Project, Inc.
